Role Overview
A British financial services firm is currently dealing with significant operational drag in their monthly reporting cycles. They have teams manually copying data between systems and managing critical calculations in spreadsheets that are prone to error. We are looking for a Reporting Specialist to help us close these gaps. In this role, you will help identify where these reporting lines break and assist in building automated, reliable replacements within the tools the client already owns. This is a fully remote position where you will work directly with our consultants to ensure data flows correctly from the source logs to the final dashboard.
About Tech Pipeline
- We target the specific friction that slows teams down, such as manual reconciliations and broken approval chains.
- Our work happens at the seams where different software systems fail to communicate.
- We avoid abstract frameworks and focus on rewriting routing rules or consolidating backlogs.
- We build fixes inside the tools the client already uses rather than trying to sell them new platforms.
- We produce clear documentation and updated SOPs to ensure the client can maintain the solution.
- We stay through the cutover period to guarantee the fix actually works in a live environment.
- All of our positions are fully remote, allowing our team to work from wherever they are most productive.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You Will Do
- Examine system logs and data exports to find where information becomes stale or incorrect.
- Update reporting rules in the client software to reduce the need for manual workarounds.
- Verify that data matches between multiple sources during a cutover period to ensure accuracy.
- Draft and update runbooks so client teams know exactly how to generate their reports without outside help.
- Record every change in a decision log to keep a clear history of why a reporting process was modified.
- Identify redundant data entries that contribute to operational drag across different departments.
- Clean up messy spreadsheets that have become unofficial systems of record for the client.
- Work with technical logs to trace the path of a single transaction through the reporting chain.
What You Bring
- A basic understanding of how data is structured, including experience with spreadsheets or introductory SQL.
- Curiosity about why a process is failing and a desire to see how things work under the hood.
- Strong attention to detail when comparing two sets of numbers or logs to find a discrepancy.
- The ability to write clear instructions that someone else can follow without additional guidance.
- A preference for finishing a specific task rather than managing an endless list of vague goals.
- Experience from internships, university projects, or personal work that shows you can solve technical puzzles.
- Reliable communication skills to provide clear, written updates on your progress.

What We Offer
- A fully remote work environment where your location does not matter.
- Competitive pay for an entry level position that reflects the value you bring to the team.
- The opportunity to work on concrete problems with visible results rather than long-term maintenance.
- A culture that values written communication and deep work over constant meetings.
- Exposure to how financial services operations actually function behind the scenes.
- Training on how to audit logs and build reliable operational reporting systems.
How We Work
- We do not believe in permanent retainers or staying longer than necessary. Our team focuses on clearing the drag so the client can function independently.
- We rely heavily on documentation and weekly written updates to keep everyone informed without the need for excessive calls.
- This role requires a disciplined approach to remote work and a commitment to maintaining a clear decision log for every project.
- When the reporting process is stable and the client team is trained to use the new SOPs, we consider the job done and move to the next project.
