Job Description

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications to support the Department’s teaching, research, and administrative functions.

  • Develop web-based and mobile applications for academic, research, and community engagement projects.

  • Collaborate with academic staff and students on software development, innovation, and research projects.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to students undertaking software development projects.

  • Support lecturers and researchers by developing software solutions, prototypes, and research applications.

  • Maintain and enhance existing departmental software systems and websites.

  • Develop and integrate databases, APIs, and cloud-based solutions.

  • Assist in the development and management of e-learning platforms and other digital learning tools.

  • Ensure software quality through testing, debugging, documentation, and version control.

  • Implement software security best practices and maintain secure applications.

  • Participate in departmental consultancy, innovation, and software commercialization initiatives.

  • Keep abreast of emerging software development technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices.

  • Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and system documentation.

  • Provide technical support and user training for developed applications.

  • At least one (1) year of relevant post-qualification working experience would be an added advantage.

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, PHP, C++, or similar.
  • Experience with web and mobile application development.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps).
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies.
  • Knowledge of software testing, debugging, and quality assurance practice.
