Role: Requirements Engineer
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Working practice: onsite 3 days per week
Rate: up to £425pd + vat outside of IR35
Role Purpose
Responsible for defining, managing, and maintaining requirements across defence and engineering programmes, ensuring customer, operational, and contractual needs are translated into clear, testable, and traceable engineering specifications throughout the system lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture, analyse, and manage system, customer, and operational requirements.
- Maintain requirements traceability, baselines, and configuration control.
- Support system design, integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing.
- Ensure compliance with relevant defence standards and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Leads, and customers.
- Support technical reviews, audits, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Required Experience
- Requirements engineering experience within defence, aerospace, military, or complex engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering, requirements traceability, and verification methodologies.
- Experience with IBM DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion, Jama, or equivalent tools.
- Knowledge of configuration management, change control, and engineering lifecycle processes.

Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and relevant defence standards desirable.
- INCOSE or IREB certification and MBSE experience advantageous.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration desirable.
