About The Role
The Requirements Engineer is responsible for establishing, managing, and improving the requirements engineering process across product development projects & Life Cycle activities. The role ensures that customer, regulatory, business, and technical requirements are accurately captured, structured, traced, verified, and maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
In addition, the role will drive the adoption of AI-enabled requirements engineering practices, supporting the use of Generative AI, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and digital engineering methods to improve product quality, development efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Management
- Capture and analyse stakeholder, customer, business, regulatory, and technical requirements.
- Create and maintain Product Requirements (PR), Technical System Requirements (TSR), and lower-level subsystem requirements, ensuring alignment with platform strategies, modular design principles, and opportunities for reuse across product variants.
- Ensure requirements are complete, clear, testable, measurable, and traceable.
- Manage requirements baselines and change control throughout project lifecycles.
- Develop and maintain requirement hierarchies, taxonomies, and attribute structures.
- Facilitate requirements reviews, workshops, and stakeholder alignment sessions.
Systems Engineering Integration
- Support systems engineering activities from concept through product release.
- Support maintenance traceability of requirements, architecture, design, verification, validation, and risk management activities.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Product Managers, Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Electronics Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
- Contribute to MBSE and digital engineering initiatives.
- Support system decomposition and functional analysis activities.
Verification & Validation
- Ensure requirements are linked to verification and validation methods.
- Support creation of acceptance criteria and test specifications.
- Help identify requirement gaps, ambiguities, conflicts, and risks early in development.
- Monitor requirement maturity and quality metrics throughout projects.

AI & Digital Engineering
- Lead adoption of AI-assisted requirements engineering tools and processes.
- Develop AI-assisted methods for:
- Requirement generation
- Requirement review
- Ambiguity detection
- Consistency checking
- Traceability analysis
- Requirements reuse
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity through automation and AI.
- Train and coach engineering teams in the use of AI-enabled requirements engineering practices.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Define and maintain requirements engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives across R&D.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory submissions.
- Establish KPI reporting for requirements quality and maturity.
- Represent and actively contribute to the Dräger Requirements Engineering community across sites and business fields

Working within a small PMO team alongside Systems Engineers, Lifecycle Managers and Project Managers.
Education/Qualifications
Role Requirements
- Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Essential
- Related Experience
- Experience in requirements engineering within complex product development environments.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles.
- Experience implementing AI-enabled engineering processes.
- Experience using requirements management tools such as: IBM DOORS, DOORS Next Gen, Polarion, Jama or similar requirements management platforms
- 5+ years' experience in product development or systems engineering environments.
- Experience managing requirements from concept through verification and release.
- Experience working within cross-functional engineering teams.
- Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and technical reviews.

- Experience working within cross-site & country engineering teams
- INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification.
- MBSE experience.
- Safety-critical or regulated product experience.
