Research Access Reviewer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Access Reviewer with a strong scientific research background and specific expertise in clinical trials to join the Access team at Our Future Health.

You will play an important role in the scientific and technical review of research proposals seeking access to Our Future Health’s data, samples, and participants. You will use your scientific expertise and knowledge of clinical trials to make independent and pragmatic judgements, helping us maintain a robust, transparent, and efficient research access process as our programme continues to grow.

Despite big improvements in healthcare in our lifetimes, today millions of people in the UK still live in poor health as they get older. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you will be responsible for the internal scientific and technical review of research proposals and will support the oversight and management of our research access process. You will work closely with researchers, the Access Board, and colleagues across Our Future Health to ensure proposals are reviewed efficiently and to a high scientific and governance standard.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Conduct scientific and technical reviews of research proposals, including proposals involving data, samples, and participant re-contact.
  • Apply your clinical trials expertise when reviewing relevant research proposals, helping to assess their scientific and technical suitability and identify potential issues.
  • Make independent and pragmatic judgements on research proposals, amendments, and access-related queries, escalating these to relevant colleagues where appropriate.
  • Support the oversight and management of the research access process, helping to ensure efficient and timely review of proposals submitted by researchers.
  • Maintain oversight of approved studies throughout their lifecycle, including reviewing amendments, annual study reports, and publications.
  • Support the Access Governance Manager and wider Access team in developing guidance and training and responding to queries from researchers.
  • Help identify potentially overlapping or duplicate studies and facilitate scientifically driven collaborations between researchers where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development of Our Future Health policies, procedures, and ways of working.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across Our Future Health, including Access, Science, Technology, and Product, to support the aims of the programme.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
