Research Analyst – Global Emerging Markets, Chinese Equities
About the Role
The highly successful Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Equity team (managing over $50 billion) is seeking a London-based, Mandarin-speaking analyst focused on Chinese equities.
The ideal candidate will:
- Collaborate closely with experienced fund managers
- Conduct research and provide equities recommendations for emerging market portfolios
- Demonstrate strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills

The Team
The Schroders GEM Equity team adheres to:

Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Analyze Chinese companies and recommend stocks for inclusion in emerging market equity portfolios.
- Conduct financial modelling, fair value assessments, and economic/economic condition evaluations.
- Communicate investment insights (written & verbal) to fund managers.
- Engage with management teams (meetings, conference calls) and execute research trips.
- Participate in strategy/client meetings and collaborate with consultants.
- Support skill development and mentor junior colleagues.
Required Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
Role-Specific:
- Business-level Mandarin fluency (essential for coverage of Chinese markets and interactions).
- Deep understanding of China’s markets/culture (highly desirable).
- Ideally:
- Substantial investment experience (preferably in Chinese markets).
- A track record demonstrating strong skills/knowledge.
- Open to generalist analysts with sector experience highly regarded.

- Graduate (or fully qualified ACA/equivalent) with an exceptional academic record.
- Strong interest in business, investing, and markets.
- Proven analytical reasoning and numerical abilities.
- Ability to interpret data and derive actionable investment conclusions.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate as part of a team.
- Self-awareness, responsiveness to feedback, and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Independent workload management skills.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word/Excel). Bloomberg knowledge is advantageous.
