ShareAction is an independent charity and an expert on responsible investment. We work to build a world where the financial system serves our planet and its people. We set ambitious standards for how financial institutions, through their investment decisions, can protect our planet and its people and campaign for this approach to become the norm. We convene shareholders to collectively push companies to tackle climate crisis, protect nature and shape healthier societies. In the UK and EU, we advocate for financial regulation that has society’s best interests at its core.

Position

What You'll Do (key Responsibilities)

As part of the Health programme, the Research & Campaign Manager plays a central role in delivering our Clean Air Initiative (CAI) – a campaign that puts air quality at the heart of the responsible investment agenda.

Having completed a successful pilot phase, CAI has secured multiyear funding, and this role is key to building on that momentum and driving continued progress.

A normal week would see you leading on research and campaign content, building relationships with investors and companies, and working closely with colleagues across Investor Engagement, Policy, Comms and Responsible Investment Standards to keep our work joined up and aligned to our new 5-year strategy.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting the Initiative Lead to plan, schedule and deliver CAI workstreams, including leading relevant AGM strategies
  • Embedding ShareAction's Responsible Investment Standards into CAI's campaign asks, investor materials and corporate engagement
  • Managing external relationships with companies, partners and funders, and supporting the development of funding bids
  • Mobilising investors through briefings, statements, letters and escalation tactics, and strengthening our investor coalition
  • Leading the development of research and campaign content, from investor briefings to reports and case studies, and presenting findings to a range of audiences
  • Coordinating across internal teams to keep CAI's activities joined up and delivered against strategy
  • Supporting budget management for CAI workstreams
  • Monitoring company practices and policies on air quality, and supporting funder reporting

As part of this role, you'll regularly engage with investors, companies and NGOs, forming strong relationships and using your skills to influence real change on air quality and health. In doing so, you'll help ShareAction work towards our vision of a financial system that serves people and planet.

If this role sounds like something that would build on your current skill set and excite you, we'd love to hear from you!

Requirements

What you'll bring to the team

We want to hear from you if you have a strong interest in driving impact on health and the environment through influencing investors and companies, and if you enjoy research, analysis, and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

We Think This Role Would Suit Someone With

  • A clear strategic thinker, able to critically assess options, make sound decisions, and prioritise effectively
  • Knowledge of air pollution, sustainability, or related commercial determinants of health, and how companies contribute to and can solve these challenges
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present clearly to senior stakeholders and the public
  • The ability to influence diverse stakeholders using persuasive arguments, tailored communication, and negotiating skills
  • Experience developing high-quality written outputs and distilling complex scientific information into succinct briefings
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Experience leading external relationships and representing an organisation externally
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct critical assessments of company approaches
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to join dots across teams and support others to learn
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

ShareAction values and respects all differences in people (seen and unseen) and welcomes applications from all backgrounds, communities and industries. We are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities and we are working hard to provide an environment where all can bring their authentic selves to work. We know that some people won’t apply for a role unless they meet all the requirements listed in the job description. If this is the case for you, but you think you would excel in this role, we want to hear from you!

Our hiring process is anonymised, we won’t ask for a cover letter and we don’t look at CVs until the interview stage. We do this so that we reduce the opportunity for unconscious biases to affect our decision making and so we prioritise skills and expertise over how well you can write a CV.

We also actively encourage incoming staff to consider flexible working arrangements; recognising that a better work-life balance can improve employee motivation, performance and reduce stress. Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you need. We can’t promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.

While we embrace hybrid working at ShareAction, we also think there is a lot of value in spending time together in person. We run all-staff away days, a yearly retreat and more regular team and directorate meet-ups so that we can develop our ideas and plans together. As part of the induction process, we’ll invite you to our office in Aldgate so you can meet and get to know your line manager, team and others from across the organisation.
