About Ark Farm Innovations
Ark Farm Innovations is a fast-growing international manufacturer of specialist dairy hygiene and infection control products. We develop innovative solutions that improve udder health, milking hygiene and farm profitability, supplying customers across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
As we continue to expand internationally, we are looking for a practical, hands-on R&D Chemist to support our product development and ensure our products, manufacturing processes and technical documentation remain fully compliant across every market in which we operate.
The Opportunity
This is a varied role ideally suited to someone who enjoys combining chemistry, product development and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with the leadership team, manufacturing and commercial colleagues, helping develop new products, improve existing formulations and maintain high technical standards across the business. As Ark grows, you will have the opportunity to help shape and develop our technical capability.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Innovation
- Develop new dairy hygiene, infection control and specialist agricultural chemical products from concept through to commercial manufacture.
- Improve existing formulations to enhance performance, stability, manufacturing efficiency and profitability.
- Coordinate 3rd party laboratory evaluations, efficacy testing and field trials.
- Work with raw material suppliers, contract laboratories and manufacturing partners.
- Evaluate new technologies, ingredients and formulation techniques.
- Support the protection of Ark's formulation know-how and technical information.

Regulatory Affairs & Product Compliance
- Support regulatory compliance across all countries in which Ark operates.
- Prepare and maintain product registrations, notifications and regulatory documentation.
- Prepare and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), labels and technical documentation.
- Help ensure compliance with legislation relating to biocides, detergents, dangerous goods and chemical classification.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise on changes affecting the business.
- Liaise with external laboratories, consultants and regulatory authorities where required.
Quality & Manufacturing Support
- Support manufacturing with technical advice and product quality improvements.
- Assist in developing Quality Control capability, including batch testing protocols and product specifications.
- Support raw material approvals and supplier technical documentation.
- Investigate technical issues and recommend practical solutions.
Environmental, Health & Safety
- Support continual improvement of Ark's Environmental, Health & Safety systems.
- Maintain chemical risk assessments, COSHH documentation and safe operating procedures.
- Assist with hazardous substance management and dangerous goods compliance.
- Help deliver technical and chemical safety training across the business.

Technical Support
- Provide technical support to the commercial team and customers where required.
- Assist with technical literature, product claims and marketing content.
- Contribute to the development of Ark's long-term product innovation pipeline.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree or Qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience in formulation, product development, regulatory affairs or quality within chemicals, dairy/food hygiene, agriculture or related industries.
- Knowledge of chemical legislation and product stewardship would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a growing international business.
