R&D Scientist I Bracknell I Onsite I £Competitive

We’re recruiting for an R&D Scientist to join BioChek’s Research & Development team, working across its established ELISA portfolio as well as new assay developments. This is a hands-on scientific role for someone with strong industrial R&D experience who can independently plan and deliver experimental work, analyse and present data, and contribute ideas to improve assay performance. You’ll also provide technical guidance across the business and lead and support a team of R&D Technicians.

The Role

As an R&D Scientist, you’ll take ownership of projects and experimental work with minimal guidance, supporting both the maintenance of BioChek’s existing ELISA portfolio and the development of new products.

You’ll be involved throughout the experimental process, from planning and conducting studies through to analysing results, reporting findings and presenting data to internal and external audiences. You’ll also use your technical expertise to advise colleagues, identify opportunities to improve assay performance and provide leadership and guidance to R&D Technicians.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Planning, designing and conducting laboratory experiments
  • Taking ownership of R&D projects, working with a high degree of independence and in line with current SOPs
  • Supporting the maintenance and development of ELISA assays
  • Processing, analysing and interpreting experimental results and data
  • Producing clear project reports and communicating findings
  • Presenting scientific data to internal and external audiences
  • Providing technical advice and expertise to other departments
  • Identifying and recommending ways to improve assay performance
  • Contributing to weekly R&D meetings and wider technical discussions
  • Carrying out conjugation and purification procedures
  • Leading, supporting and guiding a team of R&D Technicians

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
