The Role
The Sustainability Mission at The Alan Turing Institute is advancing the safe decarbonisation of transportation networks, manufacturing processes, and critical infrastructure through the application of data science, AI, and data-centric engineering. Working with leading partners across academia, industry, and government, the mission develops innovative solutions that accelerate the transition to net zero while improving safety, resilience, and sustainability.
We are looking for a Research Application Manager to join our team. This role will focus on translating cutting-edge research into real-world impact by supporting the adoption of innovative tools, methods, and technologies across government, industry, and the charity sector. Working across a diverse portfolio of sustainability projects, you will engage with stakeholders, identify user needs, develop technical specifications, and build demonstrations or proofs of concept that showcase the value of Turing research in practice.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience engaging and collaborating with a range of stakeholders, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving skills. We are looking for someone with experience gathering and interpreting user requirements, managing collaborative initiatives, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Basic coding skills and an interest in applying technology to solve real-world sustainability challenges are essential. Experience in product management, data science, open-source communities, software development, or creating proofs of concept would be highly beneficial.

How You Will Make an Impact
- Drive the translation of Sustainability Mission research into practical applications, supporting the successful adoption of research outputs by external stakeholders.
- Build and strengthen relationships with industry, government, and charitable partners, identifying opportunities to maximize the impact of Turing research.
- Represent user needs within multidisciplinary research teams, helping shape solutions that address real-world challenges.
- Develop and deliver proofs of concept, demonstrations, and technical specifications that showcase the value of research outputs.
- Facilitate collaboration between researchers, stakeholders, and delivery partners to accelerate innovation and knowledge exchange.
- Communicate technical concepts and project outcomes through reports, presentations, workshops, publications, and engagement activities.

Term and Conditions
This full-time post is offered on a fixed-term basis with an annual salary of £57,000. Our offers include an excellent benefits package including private medical insurance, 10% employer pension contribution, flexible hybrid working, and family-friendly policies - full details can be seen here.
