Job Description
The Centre for Dementia Research is seeking to recruit a Research Assistant to work on an NIHR-funded qualitative study exploring the experiences, impacts, and best practices of intergenerational work in care homes with co-located nurseries for people living with dementia.
Working alongside Dr Chloé Bradwell, a second research assistant, a team of experts in the field, and care home partners, you will contribute to all stages of the project, including participant recruitment and consent, ethnographic observations, interviews and creative focus groups with nursery children and residents, data analysis, and the preparation of reports and dissemination materials.
The study will take place across several UK care home sites, and the role will involve regular travel for fieldwork. Some visits may require overnight stays. A driving licence would be advantageous, or applicants should be able to demonstrate how they can feasibly travel to the research sites.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
