About The Role

The programme of work is led by Dr Maria Loades, Professor, Clinical Psychologist and NIHR Advanced Fellowship holder, who will work closely with you.

This post is a great opportunity to work in applied clinical research with a public health focus.

This role includes working on a fully powered hybrid effectiveness and implementation RCT of single session interventions for young people aged 13-18 in the UK.

It also includes analysing and writing up data from pilot studies, supporting implementation projects in early help provider services, and contributing to the wider work of the spotLight on Adolescent and Young Adult Mood Problems group (LAMP).

Patient and public involvement (PPI), engagement and science communication are key to the programme of work.

  • Experience of searching, reviewing and synthesising relevant academic literature. Experience of contributing to systematic reviews would be desirable.
  • Experience of collecting, managing, and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, with familiarity with relevant software such as R and NVivo desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including young people, parents, clinicians, researchers, and other professionals.
  • The ability to support research dissemination activities, including using social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok to share study information, support recruitment, and communicate findings.
  • Experience of contributing to academic writing, including preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, would be desirable.
  • The ability to present research findings through conferences, reports, blogs, and other accessible formats for different audiences.

Additional Information

This role is offered part time (2 days per week), on fixed term basis with an expected duration of 22 months (or 2.5 days a week for 18 months, depending on the preference of the successful candidate).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
