Introduction
The Market Access Society is looking for an assistant researcher in European Union health law for 70 hours of work from 15th September 2026 to 15th November 2026 (or similar dates by negotiation).
Main Role
The main role of the research assistant is to conduct targeted research in the field of European Union law and Health Technology Assessment.
Main Activities
- To check and identify academic literature and law references, especially to EU legislation, but also to EU case law.
- To explore targeted legal arguments in the field of European Union law and Health Technology Assessment.
- To write summaries of the findings.
- To support production of a book on EU Health Technology Assessment Law, aimed to feed into the legislative reform process.
Location
The assistant researcher will work remotely under the supervision of Professor Tamara K. Hervey (Jean Monnet Professor of EU law, City St George’s, University of London, UK) and Dr Aurélie Mahalatchimy (CNRS researcher in EU biomedical law, Aix-Marseille University, UMR 7318 DICE CERIC, France), in collaboration with Prof Mondher Toumi (Professor in Public Health, Aix-Marseille University).

Fee
The fee will be 22€ per hour, for a maximum of 70 hours, i.e. 1540€. It will be paid directly by the Market Access Society, and the received fee will be subject to National regulation of the country of residence.
Requirements
- A high mark in an EU law module in a law LLM, other graduate programme, or third year UG or later is required.
- Understanding of key concepts of EU constitutional and / or internal market law is required.
- A specialisation in health or pharmaceutical law, and/or knowledge of the EU regulation of Health Technology Assessment will be highly appreciated.
- The ability to work in an international environment, in English (written, read, and spoken), is required.
- Ability to write legal research texts is required.
- Ability to combine autonomous and team working is required.
- Interest in interdisciplinarity will be highly appreciated.

Eligibility
This position is open to holders of an LLM or other post-graduate qualification with EU law as part of their degree programme. It is necessary to be fluent in English (written, read, and spoken).
