Post Doctoral Research Associate
A position exists for a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics to work on the theoretical and computational aspects of tensor networks. The successful candidate will be part of the research group of Professor F Verstraete, funded by an ESPRC grant on Tensor Networks. The proposed start date of the appointment will be September/October 2026.
Duties
- Developing and conducting individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals, and projects.
- Planning and managing their own research and administration, with guidance if required.
- Assisting in the preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies.
- Communicating material of a technical nature.
- Building internal and external contacts.
- Assisting in the supervision of student projects.
- Developing student research skills.
- Providing instruction or planning/delivering seminars relating to the research area.

Requirements
- A PhD in the field of physics or mathematics.
- Experience in working with tensor networks, both from the computational and theoretical point of view.
