About the Role
The Department of Paediatrics is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated clinically qualified Research Associate to join our internationally recognised paediatric diabetes research programme. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician with an interest in paediatric diabetes, clinical trials, and translational medicine to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people at risk of, or living with, Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).
The postholder will join a vibrant paediatric diabetes research programme focused on understanding the natural history of Type 1 Diabetes and developing strategies for earlier diagnosis, disease prevention, and improved treatment. The programme includes national and international collaborations and a diverse portfolio of interventional and observational studies involving children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Identification and monitoring of individuals at increased risk of developing T1D
- Studies of early-stage and pre-symptomatic T1D
- Prevention and disease-modifying intervention trials
- Longitudinal observational studies investigating disease progression and clinical outcomes
The Research Associate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of principal investigators, research nurses, trial coordinators, contributing to the delivery of high-quality clinical research while developing their own academic and clinical research expertise.

Role
The successful applicants will also be encouraged and supported to develop and lead a research project of their own over time in the post. This role offers excellent opportunities for academic and professional development, including:

- Training in clinical research methodology, trial conduct, and regulatory requirements

This appointment requires a Research Passport application and an Honorary Clinical Contract.
