Research Associate in Cardiometabolic Health

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Research Associate in Cardiometabolic Health to join the NIHR-funded Maternity Disparities Consortium. You will support impactful research and knowledge mobilisation within the pregnancy, birth and early postnatal maternal health theme, with a particular focus on cardiometabolic health and care outcomes.

You will be responsible for:

  • To work collaboratively with colleagues from Sheffield Hallam University and Newcastle University, supporting others in a flexible manner
  • To conduct participatory system mapping using stakeholder and PPI workshops to build a systems overview of existing cardiometabolic care pathways, gaps, intersectional inequalities, and potential barriers and facilitators to a cardiometabolic care bundle; to identify key actors critical to the project’s successful implementation
  • To build on existing digital referral systems at Manchester in the postnatal period following a diagnosis of gestational diabetes
  • To explore the wider/intersectional drivers of cardiometabolic inequalities and how these may act as barriers to following evidence-based behavioural interventions, building on behavioural research at Sheffield and Manchester
  • To collaborate with Birmingham to build on digital prototype research of postnatal home blood pressure monitoring

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
