Post-doctoral Research Associate
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Post-doctoral Research Associate. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to research on the mechanics of floating structures. The role will focus on building mathematical models of fluid-structure interactions, developing new experimental activities and analysing data, and will take place within a dynamic and inclusive research environment.

Essential Criteria:
- Hold or be about to obtain a PhD (or equivalent) in physics, engineering, chemistry or applied mathematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a group and, also, to work independently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desirable Criteria:
- Demonstrable experience researching fluid-structure interactions.
- Demonstrable experience in mechanical modelling.
- Demonstrable experience performing experiments on soft and/or slender structures.
- Analytical understanding of elastic buckling (in)stabilities.
We value transferable skills and real-world experience as much as formal qualifications.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Performing experiments on floating structures.
- Acquiring & analysing experimental data and interpreting findings.
- Using mathematical techniques to model fluid-structure interactions.
- Writing up research work for publication.
- Working with colleagues on joint projects
