Postdoctoral Research Associate
A postdoctoral Research Associate position is available to join the research group of Prof. Anna Philpott in the Wellcome-MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, a world-leading centre for stem cell research (https://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk/). The Philpott lab has broad interests in understanding the fundamental mechanisms that determine cell fate choice and differentiation during development, reprogramming and cancer. Establishing and maintaining the correct cell identity is fundamental for health. Understanding these mechanisms underpins successful reprogramming for disease modelling and may help to advance regenerative and cancer therapies.
About the Role
The successful candidate will undertake a project investigating the transcriptional regulation of lineage fidelity during fate specification and differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells, focusing on uncovering epigenetic and co-factor-dependent mechanisms underlying these processes. Within the laboratory, we use several experimental systems including mammalian embryonic stem cells, cancer cell culture, as well as Xenopus frog embryos. We use many techniques including genome-wide analysis of gene expression in single and multiple cells, chromatin binding and accessibility studies and CRISPR genome editing, alongside diverse biochemical approaches.

Requirements
- PhD in a relevant field
- Experience in stem cell biology, developmental biology, or transcriptional regulation
- Proven track record in scientific publication
- Prior experience in mammalian stem cell culture and in genome-wide transcriptional analysis
- Ability to undertake project management
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Good presentation and communication skills
- Ability to contribute to an environment supporting researchers at all stages of their careers
