Job Overview
We are seeking a researcher to join our team on an exciting, funded research programme evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) following pancreatic cancer surgery.
This post offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to research aimed at improving recovery and rehabilitation outcomes for people undergoing pancreatic cancer surgery. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of a feasibility study involving patients, clinicians, researchers and patient and public involvement (PPI) contributors across university and NHS settings.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day management and delivery of the study, supporting participant recruitment, screening and informed consent procedures, collecting and managing quantitative and qualitative data, and contributing to intervention delivery and monitoring.
You will work closely with academic and clinical collaborators and help build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful study delivery. There will also be opportunities to contribute to wider research activities, teaching, public engagement and knowledge exchange activities.

Qualifications
You will have a PhD (or be near completion) in a relevant discipline such as Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, Sport and Exercise Science, Health Sciences or a related field. You should have experience of conducting research, collecting and managing quantitative and/or qualitative data, and working with patients, healthcare service users or members of the public. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential, together with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Desired Experience
Experience in cancer, rehabilitation, exercise, surgical or clinical research would be advantageous, as would experience contributing to research publications or presentations, and knowledge of technology-assisted rehabilitation interventions. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and membership of a relevant professional body are desirable.
Job Details
This is a fixed-term post available until 30/04/2028. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
