An Exciting Opportunity in Nephrology
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Salford Nephrology service. The post is seen as an opportunity to advance to a level not attainable during General Nephrology training.
About the Role
This post is envisioned as an opportunity to advance knowledge and experience in a specific area of nephrology (kidney transplantation) and will also provide opportunity to undertake clinical research. The post would be suitable for post-CCT fellows or doctors with renal experience earlier in their careers.
Successful candidates, depending on interests and previous experience, will work within multidisciplinary clinics. There will be an opportunity to be involved in research within the areas of multidisciplinary clinics and in other areas in which the department has active research including CKD, renovascular disease, transplantation, obesity in CKD and in the field of dialysis (clearance, haemodialysis access surveillance).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
