Research Commercialisation Consultant
Higher Education Sector | Consultancy Assignment
A forward-thinking UK university is seeking an experienced Research Commercialisation & IP Consultant to support the development of its research commercialisation agenda.
With increasing emphasis from government funders on delivering real-world impact from research, the university is looking to strengthen its approach to intellectual property, technology transfer, and commercialisation activities.
The Assignment
Working closely with senior research and innovation leaders, you will:
- Review existing IP and commercialisation arrangements
- Develop practical commercialisation pathways and frameworks
- Identify and assess research outputs with commercial potential
- Advise on intellectual property management and protection
- Support technology transfer activities
- Recommend processes, policies, and governance structures
- Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders
- Help build sustainable income-generating opportunities from research activity
- Provide strategic recommendations for future capability development

About You
- Significant experience within research commercialisation, innovation, or technology transfer
- A strong understanding of intellectual property management and protection
- Experience working within universities, research institutes, or innovation environments
- Knowledge of knowledge exchange and research impact agendas
- Experience developing commercialisation strategies and pathways
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with academics and senior leaders
- A track record of helping organisations generate value from research outputs
