Role Description
The Research Fellow is a full-time, on-site position based at the University of Surrey in the Greater Guildford Area, United Kingdom. The role involves designing and conducting research projects, collecting and analyzing data, and developing high-quality publications in collaboration with academic colleagues. The Research Fellow will contribute to grant applications, project reporting, and dissemination of findings through conferences, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.

- Coordinating with internal and external partners
- Maintaining accurate research records
- Supporting postgraduate and undergraduate students engaged in related research activities
The role also involves contributing to the wider academic life of the department, including seminars, collaborative initiatives, and interdisciplinary projects aligned with the university’s research strategy.
Qualifications
- Relevant doctoral degree (or near completion) in a discipline aligned with the research area, with evidence of independent research ability.
- Proven experience in research design, data collection, and data analysis, using appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies.
- Strong academic writing skills with a track record of, or clear potential for, peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and to communicate complex ideas clearly to academic and non-academic audiences.
- Good project management, time management, and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and manage concurrent tasks.
- Familiarity with ethical research practices, research governance, and relevant regulatory or institutional requirements.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring students and supporting teaching-related research activities is highly desirable.
- Competence with relevant software tools and technologies for data analysis, documentation, and research communication (e.g., statistical packages or qualitative analysis tools).
- Demonstrated commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to contributing positively to the university’s research culture.
- Previous experience in securing or contributing to research funding applications is an advantage.
