Company Description
The Children and Media Association (CMA) is a leading international organization focused on collaboration and knowledge exchange among experts in children’s media. CMA advances high-quality, child-centered media through research, evaluation, and training initiatives, while advocating for children’s rights in the media environment. The association supports capacity building for members to create culturally relevant, research-informed media experiences and contributes to national and international policy frameworks. CMA also promotes global collaboration by developing ethical guidelines, exploring emerging media trends, and working with international research institutions. Established in June 2019, CMA now connects over 400 national specialists across more than 200 specialized fields and operates at both national and international levels.
Role Description
The Research Fellow – Future Generations Studies will conduct empirical and theoretical research on the impact of media on children and future generations, with a focus on rights, wellbeing, and evolving media environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Designing and implementing research projects
- Collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
- Preparing reports, policy briefs, and academic publications
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
- Engaging with international partners
- Contributing to the development of codes of ethics and conduct related to children’s media
- Supporting capacity-building initiatives by translating research findings into practical guidance for media producers, educators, and policymakers
- Participating in conferences, workshops, and stakeholder consultations

This is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom.
Qualifications
- Advanced research skills, including study design, qualitative and quantitative methods, data analysis, and synthesis of complex information.
- Demonstrated experience in children’s media studies, media sociology, education, psychology, or related fields focused on youth and future generations.
- Strong academic writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce research reports, policy briefs, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in policy analysis, rights-based approaches, and ethical frameworks, particularly relating to children’s rights in media environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary and international teams, build stakeholder relationships, and present findings to diverse audiences.
- Master’s degree or PhD (or equivalent experience) in media studies, social sciences, education, psychology, public policy, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple research activities and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with emerging media platforms, digital trends, and their implications for children and future generations is highly desirable.
- Commitment to gender-neutral, inclusive, and non-discriminatory practices in research and communication.
