The School of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow (in Computer Science; outsourced).
About the Role
In this position, you will play a key role in driving high-impact research, developing innovative objectives, and formulating proposals within cutting-edge fields, including Computer Vision, Digital Healthcare, AI Optimization, and Software Testing. You will have the opportunity to leverage your initiative and creativity to expand your research portfolio, co-supervise talented research students, write proposals for external funding (particularly provincial and national NSF grants for young researchers), and publish work in top-tier international venues.
Key Responsibilities

Research & Experimentation (40%)
Plan and execute research using recognized methodologies; analyze data, implement experiments, interpret results, and generate novel insights in AI, computer vision, digital health, or software testing. -
Publication & Dissemination (20%)
Lead the writing of high-quality papers for top-tier journals/conferences and present findings at national and international venues. -
Grant & Proposal Writing (10%)
Identify funding opportunities and assist in preparing competitive grant applications for internal and external bodies. -
Supervision & Mentorship (10%)
Co-supervise Master’s and PhD projects, and mentor undergraduate/postgraduate research work and placements. -
Collaboration & Networking (10%)
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, build research networks, and coordinate shared projects. -
Operations & Development (10%)
Manage research resources/labs, resolve research challenges, participate in staff development, and support operational duties.

About You
Education & Qualifications
- A PhD degree in Computer Science or a related area awarded within the last 3 years, or proof of successful completion of a PhD.
- Eligibility to apply for provincial and national NSF grants for young researchers.
Publication Record
- Proven experience as 1st author publishing in top-tier journals or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, MICCAI, ICLR, TMI, MedIA, TMM, TCSVT, etc.
Skills & Experience
- Practical experience in applying research methodologies, models, and techniques relevant to the role.
- High analytical capability to interpret complex data, conduct experiments, and evaluate research texts critically.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
- Strong collaborative and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Requirements
- Demonstrated success in securing external research grant funding.
- Ability to foster a vibrant research culture and mentor/inspire learning in others.
