Job Title: Research Fellow in Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and CO2 Storage
The Stratigraphy Group, a large international research group based at the University of Manchester, is seeking a Petrophysicist / Petrologist / Reservoir Engineer / Sedimentologist / Stratigrapher to join the team as a Research Fellow in Sedimentology, Stratigraphy, and CO2 Storage.
About the Role
You will take a leading role in the LobeStore research programme, which aims to characterise reservoir-scale heterogeneity and mineralogical variability in deep-marine lobe successions and their role in CO2 migration, pressure dissipation, and reaction front surface area to support CO2 storage site appraisal and management.
Responsibilities
- Integrate field data collected in the Karoo Basin (South Africa) and other exhumed systems and subsurface systems from the North Sea/NCS.
- Develop models of deep-marine lobe successions as fluid flow pathways and storage containers for CO2.
- Work closely with sedimentologists and stratigraphers to provide geological data for pore- and reservoir-scale models.
- Contribute to and support a diverse and international research team.

Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent) in geoscience.
- Skills in, or willingness to learn, petrology and pore-scale flow simulations.
- Ideally, experience in sedimentary processes and stratigraphic successions.
Key Requirements
- Comfortable leading and integrating key aspects of the programme.
- Experience presenting to sponsor companies.
- Willingness to contribute to and support a diverse and international research team.
