We're hiring! 2 Research Fellows to investigate the power of religion in extractive industry struggles - focusing on Brazil or the USA.

RAIDS is an ERC-funded project exploring the role of religion and spirituality as ‘weapons’ of both powerful corporations and marginalised communities involved in struggles over mines or mining infrastructure. The project involves critical work to unpick the ways that religious movements (especially religious nationalism) are supporting the interests of extractive corporations across the world. But it is equally interested in the many ways that the communities who fight those corporations do, and could, also draw upon religious and spiritual practices, organisation, and knowledge to strengthen their struggles. Amplifying and connecting those communities' understanding is central to the project design.
