NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Hammersmith Hospital

The NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Hammersmith Hospital is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Research Involvement, Engagement and Inclusion Manager to lead on patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE), and equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).

This is an exciting opportunity to shape how clinical research is experienced and delivered, ensuring it reflects and serves the diverse communities we work with and establishing new relationships. You’ll work closely with CRF staff, researchers, patients, and partners across Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Imperial College London, and the wider National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline and have experience of developing and delivering inclusive involvement and engagement strategies in healthcare and/or clinical research.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to independently establish and deliver engagement events within community settings, acting as the lead organiser and coordinating all aspects of planning, promotion, delivery, and follow-up.
  • Work closely with PERC to deliver the overall NIHR Imperial PPIE Strategy.
  • Develop and implement strategies and action plans for PPIE and RI aligned with NIHR and Trust priorities.
  • Advise the CRF senior Management Team on best practices, compliance, and innovation across both domains.
  • Facilitate meaningful involvement of patients and the public in research design, delivery, and dissemination.
  • Organise engagement events and outreach activities to connect with diverse communities.
  • Develop and deliver PPIE policies and procedures.
  • Deliver and/or signpost staff and researcher training.
  • Support researchers in integrating PPIE into funding applications and study protocols.
  • Develop accessible materials to communicate research findings and opportunities for involvement.
  • Manage the PPIE budget.
  • Embed EDI principles across CRF operations, including recruitment, training, and research delivery.
  • Deliver and/or signpost staff training and support inclusive workforce development.
  • Devise strategies to ensure all necessary data is collected and managed efficiently and in compliance with GDPR.
  • Monitor and report on EDI progress using relevant data and frameworks.
  • Contribute to development of ICRF policies and procedures and ensure they reflect current EDI legislation and guidance.
  • Identify CRF RI, PPIE and research achievements that can be developed into news and/or impact stories.
  • Update CRF digital platforms including the CRF website and social media channels with EDI and PPIE content.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
