Research Nurse Position
Applications are invited for a Research Nurse position within an established translational research programme headed by Dr Massimiliano di Pietro and Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald, focusing on patients with the pre-cancerous conditions of the upper GI tract with a goal to improve diagnosis and management of patients with cancer. The specific purpose of this role will be to support research studies being conducted by the team of Dr Massimiliano di Pietro and Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald OBE to find better ways of detecting oesophageal and gastric cancer at an earlier stage. Our team has a long track record of pioneering research in this area that has led to new tests, including the Cytosponge, and changes in guidelines that have been adopted nationally and internationally. We also work closely with colleagues in physics, surgery and medical genetics. The role is an active nursing role with direct patient contact with a particular emphasis on recruitment, sample collection, data entry and study co-ordination. The post holder will work within an established team of clinicians, researchers, research nurses and administrators.

Requirements
- Significant post-registration clinical experience
- Previous research experience in commercial and/or non-commercial clinical trials
- Previous study coordinator and endoscopy nurse experience is desirable
Job Details
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 year in the first instance with the possibility to extend depending on ongoing funding applications.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with adults' barred list) and a security check. This appointment also requires NMC Registration and a Research Passport application.
This is an integrated appointment between the University and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Research Contract by the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa.
