Research Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Research Officer who plays a vital role in strengthening the organisation’s research function by developing the systems, processes, and workflows that support all studies.

By improving data consistency, accessibility, and quality, the Research Officer ensures that our decisions are grounded in evidence and aligned with community needs. Key Responsibilities And Deliverables

  • Develop and maintain standardised templates for data collection across all studies.
  • Design and manage a shared research repository to store and organise research findings.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to share and update research insights.
  • Work with stakeholders, including community changemakers and funders, to understand their needs and provide relevant research outputs.
  • Assist in managing research data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and security.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge-management workflows from planning to optimisation.

Essential Requirements (must-haves)

Experience and knowledge

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in research, data analysis, or evidence-based reporting is essential for this role.
  • Basic understanding of research methodologies and principles.
  • Familiarity with data-management practices.
  • Demonstrable passion for social enterprise, sustainable development, and the volunteer sector.

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesise complex information into clear insights.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Digital Workplace Requirements

  • Basic digital literacy and reliable internet connection
  • Proficiency with:
    • Gmail and Calendar
    • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
    • Video conferencing and messaging tools

Desirable Skills And Experience (nice-to-haves)

  • Experience in research-related fields (social sciences, humanities, natural sciences).
  • Familiarity with data-analysis tools such as SPSS, R, or Python.
  • Knowledge of content-management systems (CMS).
  • Experience working in a remote or digitally-focused team.

What will you be doing?

We need the volunteer to support the organisation’s research function by developing data-collection systems, maintaining a central research repository, and coordinating the flow of insights across teams.

The Research Officer will ensure that research findings are accurate, accessible, and aligned with stakeholder needs, enabling the organisation to make informed, evidence-based decisions.
