Research Scientist - Implantable Biosensing Technologies

We are seeking a Research Scientist with a strong background in the R&D of biosensing, implantable or in-vivo medical device technologies to contribute to the development of a next-generation, fully implantable technology platform for continuous biomarker monitoring within the uterus.

The technology is being developed to provide new insights into uterine health through continuous biomarker monitoring, enabling the investigation of patterns and changes within the uterine environment that have historically been difficult to study. Beyond its initial sensing capabilities, the platform has the potential to incorporate additional sensing technologies and, in the longer term, therapeutic delivery systems, opening up new possibilities for the investigation and management of uterine health conditions.

The Role

Working across the complete device system, you will investigate, model and prototype new technologies spanning mechanical systems, materials, electronics, energy and communications, solving complex multidisciplinary challenges that will shape future generations of the platform.

This opportunity would suit a scientifically rigorous and practically minded researcher who enjoys solving complex problems from first principles. Combining theoretical modelling and simulation with hands-on experimentation and characterisation, you will develop proof-of-concept technologies, investigate their performance within challenging biological environments and contribute to the development of new intellectual property.

Responsibilities

  • Modelling and simulation of materials, mechanical behaviour and system-level device features
  • Development of mechanical components, PCB-based systems, fixtures and experimental test rigs
  • Experimental design, system verification testing and performance characterisation
  • Scientific programming and data analysis using tools such as Python
  • Investigation of technical challenges associated with miniaturised implantable systems operating within biological environments
  • Interpretation and presentation of evidence-based research findings
  • Production of scientific reports and technical documentation
  • Supporting invention disclosures and intellectual property generation
  • Development of proof-of-concept research prototypes
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary research activities spanning engineering, materials, electronics and biological systems

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
