SLB Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of SLB’s global network of research and engineering centres. SCR is a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art research and computing facilities. We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.

Description & Scope

You will join the Electrochemical technologies programme at SLB Cambridge Research and be involved in projects spanning a range of fields around sustainable water management, including: sensing & measurement, electrochemical reactors, interfacial science, membrane technology and materials chemistry. Expect to learn how to use new analytical techniques, to grow your communication skills in an industrial research environment, to learn about creating new and supporting existing technologies, to see what industrial research really is. Candidates should be detail oriented, enjoy taking on new challenges and have solid English writing skills.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the role are in experimental science, professionally applied to real-world challenges; you will be hands-on and working alongside career scientists as well as a cohort of interns from across the UK.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Sample preparation and measurement with analytical chemical techniques (e.g. NMR, ICP, SEM, XPS...)
  • Data collection, processing and interpretation
  • Experimental execution / development / debugging
  • Reporting and presentation of results

Qualifications

  • Studying Bachelors in Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Chemical handling and laboratory experience.
  • Basic data and analysis.
