Internship Overview

This full-time research internship is intended for PhD students in the penultimate or final year of an accredited programme in the EMEA region. Interns must be based in the United Kingdom for the programme and be available for approximately 13 to 17 weeks during summer 2027, beginning in May, June or July. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Applications should be completed by 23 October 2026 and are reviewed on a rolling basis. Project and team allocation will depend on the candidate’s academic background, interests and research skills.

About The Role

Research interns are embedded in teams across Google and help turn new ideas into experiments, prototypes and technology used in products and services. Work may relate to Search, Maps, Google Assistant, Google Translate, Google Cloud, computing infrastructure, storage or networking.

Projects can cover artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, computer vision, compiler performance, multimodal and multilingual systems, reinforcement learning and other large-scale research problems. Google research teams publish their findings, release open-source work and apply research to products used globally.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
