In this role, you'll analyse and interpret complex, large-scale population datasets to generate insights that help shape organisational strategy, public policy, and services that support financial wellbeing across the UK. Working with a range of nationally recognised datasets, you'll provide expert statistical analysis and modelling that informs evidence-based decision-making and contributes to improving outcomes for millions of people. You'll join a collaborative team of researchers and analysts who are passionate about using data to drive meaningful change.

Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing
The Research Statistician will report directly to Senior Statistician and will be responsible for:
- Analysing and interpreting data from both internal surveys (e.g., MoneyView, Children and Young People Financial Wellbeing survey) and external datasets (e.g., Financial Lives, Wealth & Assets Survey, Understanding Society).
- Applying expert knowledge in statistical and data-modelling techniques to support strategic decisions and policy making.
- Collaborating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Working cross-functionally with other teams and analysts across the organisation.
- Providing support for ad-hoc research and data-related requests.

What You’ll Bring
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Strong knowledge of quantitative research methods and experience in interpreting and analysing survey data.
- Proficiency in statistical and data-modelling tools and techniques, such as survey sampling, weighting, imputation, regression analysis, and more.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical analysis and findings to a non-technical audience effectively.
- A degree in a relevant field such as mathematics, statistics, or significant experience in research and data analysis.
- Experience with statistical packages like SPSS, Stata, R, Python, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with longitudinal datasets.
- Familiarity with a variety of data sources, including administrative or operational datasets.
- Skills in data visualisation techniques, including geographic maps (choropleths).
- Understanding of financial wellbeing, debt advice, or money guidance related areas.

Step 3: Final Stage Interview
Scheduled for: 22nd and 23rd October 2026

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a final interview via Microsoft Teams.
The interview will last approximately one hour and will be conducted by a panel of three.
During the interview, you will be asked a series of competency and experience-based questions designed to assess your technical expertise, analytical thinking, communication skills, and suitability for the role.
