The Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science
The Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to work on a fixed term for 3 years research programme to advance understanding of the risk factors for exertional heat illness in military personnel. You will work alongside Professor Neil Walsh and his team on an MOD-funded research programme extending recently published work. Find out more about our recent research here.

About the Role
- Work on a 3-year research programme to advance understanding of the risk factors for exertional heat illness in military personnel
- Collaborate with Professor Neil Walsh and his team on an MOD-funded research programme
- Enjoy the challenge of working in both the laboratory and field setting
- Travel between research locations within the UK
Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of the programme of work, including:
- Study design
- Ethical approval
- Day-to-day running and administration of the research project
- Implementation of interventions
- Assisting in the collection and interpretation of data
- Production of technical reports and manuscripts for publication
Qualifications
- Good honours degree (First or 2.1) in a relevant subject area, e.g., exercise science, human physiology
- Experience of conducting high quality research is essential
- Master’s postgraduate degree is desirable
- Experience of biological sample collection (e.g., venous blood), handling, storage (in accordance with GLP), biochemical analysis and an awareness of quality control techniques
- Ability to manage and prioritise a continuously demanding workload
