Role Overview

The role of the Systemic Family Practitioner is to ensure delivery and development of an assessment and intervention offer underpinned by a systemic framework as part of the SAFE Systemic Autism Family Enabling Research Trial.

Study Details

This is a randomised controlled trial comparing the effectiveness of a therapist-led intervention (SAFE: Systemic Autism-related Family Enabling) plus treatment as usual versus treatment as usual on family functioning and mental health in three dimensions (strengths and adaptability, coping with difficulties and problem solving, communication and understanding) in families of autistic children: a multicentre assessor-blinded trial with parallel process evaluation and economic evaluation.

Role Requirements

We are looking for a Trial therapist for the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) site of the trial. The therapist should be qualified to SFP/intermediate level in Systemic Practice.

Responsibilities

The trial therapist will receive further training and supervision in the trial therapy and work alongside other trial therapists to deliver high quality Systemic Practice in line with therapy protocols. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to study processes including maintaining research records and participating in qualitative research conducted alongside the RCT.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
