The Post

The post is Fixed Term for 12 months.

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

About the Role

As Research Systems Adviser (Training and Engagement), you will provide operational leadership and management of stakeholder training and engagement activities, within the Ensuring Data Compliance, Insights and Sharing (EDCIS) project. The EDCIS project focuses on enhancing the University’s current research information system (Symplectic Elements) and replacing the existing research data repositories. Based in the University Libraries, you will work closely with the Research and Innovation Service (RIS), working a minimum of two days a week at the University of Leeds campus.

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the EDCIS project - an institutional digital transformation project, that forms part of the wider institutional Digital Transformation Programme. The EDCIS project is a cornerstone project to support the University in meeting the objectives set out in the Universal Values, Global Changes, University of Leeds Strategy 2020 to 2030. It supports the implementation of the Digital Futures and Open Higher Education strands of the Libraries’ vision, Knowledge for All, and supports the aims of the Research Culture Strategy, and delivery of the University’s Research Excellence Framework 2029 (REF2029) submission.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
