Closing Date: 20 October 2026
The Role
The role requires a talented Research Technician to work on a Cancer Research UK funded project investigating the role of super-enhancers in the development and maintenance of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The role will be based at the Wolfson Childhood Cancer Research Centre and integrated within a wider multidisciplinary technical community across the Faculty of Medical Sciences, overseen by the technical manager.
The technician will work as part of a team to implement gene editing techniques to investigate how super-enhancer dysregulation contributes to B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. The project applies sophisticated gene editing techniques such as CRISPR together with CUT&Tag and ATAC-seq experiments for functional analysis of patient-derived models.
The successful candidate will support a broad range of laboratory activities including molecular and cellular biology techniques, cell culture and state-of-the-art epigenomic profiling techniques. The technician will also be responsible for the maintenance of COSHH and BioCOSHH forms, laboratory stocks of chemicals, media, and other consumable requirements. They will also become actively involved in ensuring the labs are running sustainably and contributing to the renewal of our LEAF award.
This post is offered as a 100% FTE fixed term position for 3 years from the start date. Applicants who wish to work less than full time may be considered.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
