Automotive Researcher โ Historic & Collector Cars
๐ Berkshire | On-site
๐ผ Permanent | Full-Time
๐๏ธ Luxury & Historic Automotive
Are you the person who can lose an evening researching the history of a particular car? Do chassis numbers, build specifications, ownership history and provenance genuinely interest you? Would you like to turn that interest into a career working around some truly exceptional historic cars?
Iโm recruiting an Automotive Researcher for a specialist luxury automotive business in Berkshire.
This isn't your typical research or administration job.
You'll spend your time digging into the history, provenance and specification of important historic vehicles, piecing together information and making sure the story behind each car is accurate, complete and properly documented.
You'll be surrounded by people who genuinely love cars and work with an international client base ranging from passionate enthusiasts to some of the world's most significant private collectors.
What will you actually be doing?

Iโm in my final year doing Economics and I donโt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer โ it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโt need a masters. Letโs look at the ones youโd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Research the history, provenance, ownership and original specification of significant historic cars.
- Investigate records and documentation, spotting gaps or inconsistencies and working out what's missing.
- Build and maintain detailed vehicle files covering identity, registration, valuation and supporting records.
- Work with clients, specialists and internal teams to gather information and ensure records are accurate.
- Support wider client projects, including vehicle movements, purchases, sales, restorations and international logistics.
Who are we looking for?
You don't necessarily need to have spent your career doing exactly this.
You do need to be naturally curious, incredibly thorough and genuinely interested in historic and collector cars.
Perhaps you've worked in automotive, research, archives, auction houses, museums, luxury goods, logistics or another detail-heavy environment. Or perhaps your professional background is less obvious, but you've spent years learning about historic cars in your own time.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You'll need strong administration and research skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle valuable and confidential information professionally.
