About the Role
We are looking for a researcher to find practices that mislead or exploit people, and to explain how they work. The role is remote and unpaid, and takes about a day a month. There is no set day, and we arrange any calls around you.
What Difference Will You Make?
Everything we publish rests on the evidence behind it. A second researcher lets us cover more practices, and lets two people check a figure before it goes out. It also lets us respond to more regulator consultations, which is where a small organisation can change what companies are allowed to do.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What Are We Looking For?
- Care with evidence, and a willingness to say when it is thin.
- A habit of tracing a figure back to where it came from.
- Judgement about which problems are worth the time.
- A minimum of three years' experience in market research or data analysis.
You do not need an academic background, or a track record of publishing. If you can explain a practice clearly and show where your evidence came from, that is what we need. Tell us if you need anything changed about how you apply, or about how we would work together. Ask before you apply if that is easier, and it will not count against you.
