Location: North Laine, Brighton – hybrid working available
Company: Back2back Productions Ltd
About Us
Back2back is a Brighton-based independent TV production company specialising in award-winning factual series and documentaries. Our work explores real-life narratives, with a particular focus on criminal cases and the human stories behind them. We are dedicated to producing insightful and responsible content that resonates with audiences.
In anticipation of the return of one of our true crime series, we are keen to hear from Senior Researchers and Researchers who are available in the coming weeks. We anticipate the role starting in early October and running through to May 2027, with the possibility of an extension.
Role Overview
Researchers will play a crucial role in supporting the production of our returning 10-part true crime series, working closely with our Producers and wider editorial team.
The role involves in-depth case research, sourcing archive and documentation, and identifying and liaising with individuals connected to high-profile murder cases. Researchers will help uncover and document case-specific insights, contributing to a nuanced and responsible portrayal of the circumstances, behaviours and human stories at the heart of each case.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
