Role: Resident Doctor Oncology

Town / Site: Manchester, The Christie Private Care, Part of HCA Healthcare

Part Time or Full Time: Part time - up to 24 hrs per week

About the Role:

The Christie Private Care, Part of HCA Healthcare UK, is seeking a dedicated Resident Doctor in Oncology to join our established team delivering high-quality, patient-centred cancer care. You will be working at our CQC-rated ‘Outstanding’ Joint Venture partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

In this role, you will support the safe, effective and compassionate delivery of oncology care, working closely with consultants across many specialties including Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, Haemato-oncology, Surgery and Palliative care. The Resident Doctor team ensure excellent continuity of care throughout the patient journey. You will work as part of our close-knit multi-disciplinary team playing a vital role in patient assessment and ongoing clinical review of our inpatients.

Duties:

  • Provide day-to-day inpatient management; lead daily ward rounds and clerk planned and unplanned admissions
  • Manage acutely unwell patients and respond to medical emergencies
  • Care for patients who are admitted due to acute oncology presentations, treatment-related issues, troublesome cancer symptoms and post-operative complications
  • Work closely with our Supportive Care team to contribute to advanced care planning and end-of-life care
  • Manage post-operative care including cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS and HIPEC)
  • Support our haemato-oncology department out of hours which can include stem-cell transplantation and bispecific antibody therapies
  • Work collaboratively with our close-knit multidisciplinary team
  • Develop close working relationships with internationally recognised consultants

What you’ll bring:

  • GMC registration and License to Practice in the UK, ideally with NHS experience
  • Experience in Oncology
  • Completion of Foundation Years training and additional 2-year minimum experience is preferable
  • Full MRCP is preferable, but not essential
  • A passion to join our established diverse resident doctor team who focus on collaborative, holistic care delivered with compassion and empathy aiming to make a positive impact on every patient
