Company Description

Novello Chartered Surveyors is one of the UK’s largest independent residential surveying firms, regulated by RICS and operating across England and Wales. Founded in 2019, the firm has grown rapidly and was named Supplier of the Year: Surveying Firm at The Negotiator Awards 2025. Novello focuses exclusively on residential work, providing Level 2 Homebuyer Surveys and Level 3 Building Surveys delivered by RICS-qualified surveyors, as well as a dedicated private client service for high-value and complex properties. The team produces detailed, clear reports and ensures each client has direct contact with their surveyor, with a reduced survey load per surveyor to allow thorough attention to every instruction. Novello invests in modern technology and reporting tools to make the survey process faster and easier to understand, while maintaining strong quality standards.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Residential Building Surveyor based in Middlesbrough area, with some work from home possible. The role involves undertaking Level 2 and Level 3 residential building surveys, assessing property condition, identifying defects, and providing clear, evidence-based recommendations. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
