Residential Care and Education Support Worker – Linn Moor Campus

About the Role
We are seeking passionate individuals to join our team at Linn Moor, a fantastic opportunity to support vulnerable young people in thriving and flourishing within a nurturing environment. Our Residential School has recently welcomed new students, and we collaborate between care and education to help children and young adults achieve their personal outcomes through one-on-one support, teamwork, and community engagement.
This is a full-time permanent role, based at our Linn Moor Campus in Peterculter, with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Details
- Hours: 39 hours per week (averaged)
- Rota: 4-week rolling cycle – includes early, late shifts, and weekend work (e.g., 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM & 2 PM – 10:15 PM)
- Salary:
- Unqualified: £13.45/hr, starting at £27,276.60 annually (max £29,203.20 upon qualification)
- Qualified: £14.40/hr
- Location: Linn Moor Campus (free transport to/from Aberdeen provided)

Role Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Work across both care and education services, tailoring your skills to support physical, psychological, and emotional development.
- Act as part of a child-centred team to create a happy, safe, and nurturing environment.
- Flexible role: Adapt to different settings (care vs. education) while supporting individual growth through daily experiences.
- Collaborate with teachers and follow VSA/Linn Moor policies, Curriculum for Excellence, GIRFEC principles, and ASN (Additional Support Needs) frameworks.
- Ensure children/young adults’ right to access a fulfilling education aligned with their developmental needs.

Requirements & Person Specification
Ideal Candidates
- Previous experience (or willingness to train) in childcare, autism/special needs education, or social care.
- A passion for young people’s welfare and strong communication skills.
- Ability to handle challenging behaviour compassionately and professionally.
- Willingness to flexibly contribute across care/education settings.
Essential
- Knowledge of GIRFEC principles.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development (e.g., working towards SCQF Level 7/HNC in Social Care or a Residential Childcare Qualification).
- Clear PSV/SASP police check (covered by VSA).
