Location: Ullenwood, Cheltenham GL53 9QU (the top of Leckhampton Hill)
Hours considered: 20hrs – 44hrs per week
Working Pattern: Term Time Only opportunities available
Working Pattern includes: A mixture of early (7am starts) and late shifts (9pm / 10pm finishes) and alternate weekend working.

At National Star, our Care and Support Workers play a vital role in helping students and residents achieve their goals, develop new skills and enjoy meaningful experiences. This is a rewarding but hands-on role that combines care, support and learning, working with individuals with complex disabilities, health needs and communication differences.
This is not solely a classroom support role. A significant part of the position involves providing personal care, health support and daily living assistance. Successful candidates must be comfortable supporting individuals with all aspects of intimate personal care and be committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support with dignity and respect.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Care and Support Worker, you'll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside therapists, nurses, tutors and other care professionals to support students and residents in residential settings, education environments and the wider community.
You will:
- Support individuals with complex physical disabilities, learning disabilities and additional needs.
- Work with people whose behaviours may be challenging and who communicate through behaviour.
- Provide full intimate personal care, always maintaining dignity, privacy and respect.
- Support with washing, dressing, toileting, continence care, personal appearance and oral care.
- Use specialist equipment including hoists, wheelchairs and communication aids.
- Support mealtimes, hydration plans and specialist feeding requirements, including gastrostomy feeding where trained.
- Assist with health care support and follow individual care plans.
- Support learning activities in classrooms and other educational settings.
- Accompany students in the community, on social activities and appointments.
- Support swimming and hydrotherapy sessions, including changing and poolside support.
- Record care, progress and achievements accurately.
- Help create positive, meaningful experiences that enable people to reach their full potential.

Experience We Value
- Care, support or health care experience.
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- Experience within education, residential care, supported living or community settings.
- Classroom support or learning support experience.
Qualifications
- Good standard of spoken and written English.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification, or willingness to work towards one.

Working Hours
Facilitators work on a two-week rota which includes:
- Early shifts from 7:00am.
- Late shifts finishing up to 10:00pm.
- Every other weekend working.
We offer both:
- 52 Week Contracts
- Term Time Only Contracts (typically aligned to Gloucestershire school terms)
