We are seeking a Residential Child Care Worker to join our Care staff team, which operates all year round.

Applicants should be registered, or will need to register within the first three months of employment, with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a practitioner on the register for children and young people workforce in residential child care services.

The successful candidate will work 39 hours per week according to a rota system which includes evening and weekend work. The salary for these posts is determined by the qualifications held by applicants, in line with SSSC requirements.

Generous sleepover allowance of £100 per session is paid in addition to salary.

Successful applicants will be required to join Disclosure Scotland’s Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

A driving licence allowing the use of our vehicles is essential. Harmeny is a values-led organisation and a good fit with our ethos is as important to us as having relevant experience. Harmeny is situated in a beautiful 35-acre woodland estate, which includes residential and education accommodation, community garden, orchard, wildlife habitats and children’s play areas. Harmeny is located in Balerno on the outskirts of Edinburgh, at the foot of the Pentland Hills; we are easily accessible by bus and there is on-site parking available. • Seven weeks of annual leave
  • Pension scheme
  • Life assurance (three times salary)
  • On-site wellbeing spaces and free massage therapy
  • Free gym membership
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Access to a wellbeing app and counselling services
  • Access to discounts on shopping and events
  • Access to a comprehensive induction programme, along with a wide range of learning and development opportunities throughout your career with us

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
