We are looking for a new apprentice to join our Ofsted Outstanding team

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The Lighthouse Children's Home provides care for children with autism and learning disabilities and is based in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work flexible hours and to gain experience working with children and young people with special needs in a caring environment.
- Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the children's physical, behavioural, and emotional needs.
- Supporting young people to do their favourite things and try new activities at home and outdoor activities.
- Providing high-quality care to young people.
This apprenticeship will offer great experience for working in residential care with children with autism and learning disabilities. We have a great team to support the apprentices.
Responsibilities: Support Worker
- Providing quality and consistent care to help meet the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of residents.
- Provide personal care for the young people.
- Supporting young people to do their favourite things and to try new activities, both at home and outdoors.
- Promoting the safety, welfare, and protection of the children and young people we care for at all times.
- Complete all training required.
- Act as a positive role model for children, young people, and other staff in the home.

- Communicates in way that enables the voice of the child, young person or family members to be heard.
- Encourages individuals to engage positively with their community and relevant agencies and actively participate in the way their care and support is delivered.
- Actively promotes respect, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Works together with children, young people and families to keep them safe and manage risk and promoting the development of skills the family need to successfully manage risk themselves.
- Works with and supports other professionals to respond to safeguarding concerns.
- Identifies the influences on the individual and the family and supports them to make informed choices.
- Leads on the development and recording of holistic plans, delivery of interventions and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Identifies and addresses barriers to accessing resources.
- Identifies and manages evidence-based approaches and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Contributes to the development of a resilient, consistent and persistent approach to practice.
- Models clarity of purpose, clear expectations and a professional approach to decision making.
- Appropriately challenges and/or offers alternative perspectives with the children, young person or family.
- Contributes to own professional development.

Training schedule

Our dedicated focus on the Care and Education sectors means we are deeply rooted within these sectors and have in-depth knowledge and understanding of what is required from a training perspective. Upon completion of this 24-month apprenticeship, you will have obtained your Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Residential) L4 Apprenticeship.
