About the Role
We are looking for compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Casual Residential Children's Practitioners. This flexible role offers the opportunity to work across our children's residential services, providing vital support to children and young people aged 5 to 18.
As a children with disability practitioner, you will provide meaningful day to day activities to children and young people with disabilities to develop their emotional and social needs by building positive relationships and to enhance independence skills. You carry out health care tasks and duties that can be met through appropriate training and delegation of clinical procedures in line with the 2005 Royal College of Nursing Guidelines.
You may be new to the care profession or experienced and want a change. What’s important is the ability to form effective relationships with children with disabilities, your life experiences, personal strength and positive attitude.
What you'll be doing
- Providing day-to-day care, support and supervision for children and young people with disabilities.
- Providing personal intimate care such as feeding, washing, toileting, dressing, hoisting and administering medication.
- Building positive, trusting relationships and acting as a strong role model.
- Supporting children with education, activities, independence skills and personal development.
- Working as part of a dedicated team to create a warm, caring and stable home environment.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care planning and reviews.
- Supporting children with complex emotional, behavioural or additional needs.
- Promoting safeguarding, welfare and positive outcomes for all children in our care.

What we're looking for
We're seeking people who:
- Have experience working with children, young people or families, either professionally or through relevant life experience.
- Have good computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to use business systems effectively.
- Are caring, patient and able to build positive relationships.
- Can remain calm and use good judgement in challenging situations.
- Are flexible, reliable and willing to work as part of a team.
- Have good communication, literacy and digital skills.
- Are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- A willingness to achieve the NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare within two years of appointment, if not already held.

Important information
This role involves shift work, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-in duties and occasional lone working. You may work across different children's homes as required. An Enhanced DBS check will be required for successful applicants. A full driving licence is required. We cannot offer sponsorship for this role.
