Residential Children’s Support Worker – Therapeutic Children’s Home

Westcliff-on-Sea | £30,191–£31,490 including sleep-in allowance and enhanced night/bank holiday payments | Full-time

Kites Children’s Services is looking for Residential Children’s Support Workers to join its supportive, trauma-informed children’s home in Westcliff-on-Sea.

You’ll help create a safe, stable and welcoming home where children who have experienced adversity can feel valued, understood and supported.

The role

No two shifts will be the same. You’ll build positive relationships with young people while supporting their day-to-day lives, including:

  • Supporting routines, education, activities and family contact
  • Helping children manage emotions and behaviour using trauma-informed approaches
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and new experiences
  • Cooking, shopping and supporting everyday household activities
  • Acting as a key worker and advocating for an allocated young person
  • Maintaining accurate care records, risk assessments and plans
  • Working closely with families, social workers and other professionals
  • Maintaining a safe, warm and homely environment

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to be empathetic, reliable and emotionally resilient, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Experience in residential childcare is welcomed but not essential, as full training is provided.

You must:

  • Be willing to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Be able to drive
  • Commit to shifts including evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleep-ins
  • Have the right to work in the UK
