Our Commitment

Derbyshire provides consistent, good quality care through twelve children’s homes across the County. Our homes provide an environment where young people feel happy to live.

Under-pinned by Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (PACE), trauma informed practice, social pedagogy and person-centred approach to inform practice, we work continuously to improve the quality of our Children’s homes, ensuring our young people have every opportunity to thrive and develop.

About The Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join a small, experienced, supportive team at Glenholme in Long Eaton.

Our Residential Children’s Workers provide a service to Children in accordance with legislative and policy requirements. Working as part of a small staff team who provide support and a person-centred service, they are responsible for the daily support, guidance, educational and social needs of our children.

As a Residential Children’s Worker at Glenholme, you will play a vital part in delivering emotionally attuned, relationship-focused care to children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs. You will work as part of a supportive and experienced team, helping to create a stable, nurturing and therapeutic home environment. Your daily work will involve promoting the wellbeing, development and safety of each child, offering guidance, emotional support and consistent boundaries that help them feel valued, secure and understood.

You will play a key role in supporting young people through everyday routines such as preparing for school, managing their personal organisation, and engaging in hobbies, activities and community participation. Alongside this, you will help young people develop essential life skills including cooking, budgeting, self-care and building healthy relationships. Much of the work involves building strong, trusting and respectful relationships, working in line with PACE, trauma-informed practice, social pedagogy and restorative approaches.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
