Residential Conveyancer / Head of Department
Abercynon | Up to £60,000 + Direct Pathway to Directorship
A well-established, high street law firm is opening a brand-new office in Abercynon and is looking for an experienced Residential Conveyancer to take the lead.
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious conveyancer at 6+ PQE who is ready to take the next step in their career and have genuine ownership over the development of a new office.
You will continue to be a hands-on fee earner, managing your own residential conveyancing caseload, whilst also taking responsibility for helping establish and grow the Abercynon office.
The Role
As the lead for the new office, you will have the autonomy to help shape how the department operates, build relationships within the local community and play a key role in the firm's continued growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion.
- Acting as the lead point of contact for the Abercynon office.
- Developing and growing the residential conveyancing offering within the new office.
- Building strong relationships with clients, introducers, and local contacts.
- Supporting the recruitment and development of the team as the office grows.
- Helping establish efficient processes and workflows within the new office.
- Maintaining high standards of client care, compliance, and file management.
- Working closely with the wider firm and existing teams.
- Identifying opportunities to grow the department and generate new business.
- Taking genuine ownership of the success and development of the office.

About You
The firm is open to candidates from 5+ years PQE through to experienced Heads of Department, provided you have a strong residential conveyancing background and the ambition to take ownership of a new office.
You will ideally have:
- At least 5 years' PQE in residential conveyancing.
- Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of residential property matters.
- Proven experience managing your own caseload with minimal supervision.
- The confidence to work autonomously and take ownership.
- Strong client-facing and business development skills.
- Previous management or leadership experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- A genuine interest in building something from the ground up.
